Who Am I?
Hey! I am Ava Sewell. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest, we have a family of two, me and my sister Hannah, where my sister owned a sewing shop. I spent countless hours playing with the fabric bolts and watching my sister work on alterations and custom garments. My interest in fabrics, threads, and textures was deep when I grew older. I learned the basics of sewing from my sister. She sent me to a fashion design class in high school where I discovered a true passion.
After high school, I moved to New York City to study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. There I met Rose Sewingston a textile designer, a fellow student working on a project that combined traditional sewing techniques with modern digital printing. Rose is from a family of artists and is keen-sighted which complemented my practical skills. We became fast friends and used to work together on the same projects.
Together, we discovered a shared love for vintage sewing machines, antique fabrics, and the art of repurposing old textiles. We spent countless hours exploring thrift stores and fabric markets. After college, we decided to turn our passion into a business and dream of opening our sewing machine shop in Brooklyn.

Our Journey
When the lockdown shattered our dreams and forced us to stay indoors. We thought our passion for sewing would have to take a backseat. With no choice, we started from scratch, picked up our threads and needles, and began to stitch our path. We turned lockdown into an opportunity to pursue our passion for sewing and discovered a new sense of purpose and creativity. As we settled into our new lockdown routine, we realized that our passion for sewing could be hope for others. Through this website, we started blogging about our sewing journey, sharing tips, tutorials, and inspiration to help others get started. We inspired others to explore their creativity through sewing. We build our community for sewing lovers, quilters, and fashion designers. We aimed to promote a more mindful approach to fashion, encouraging viewers to repair, repurpose, and reissue existing garments with the updated fashion style.
We also support newbies in their sewing journey. We used to cover basics like threading, tension, and stitching projects with various techniques and tips.
